Cardboard appears to be getting more and more versatile. I don't know if it will eventually become fablabbable. Also, there's http://gridbeamers.com/ which in turn looks a bit like Marcin and Brittany's tractor here http://openfarmtech.org/weblog/?p=269

Maybe there will be not-so-local factories for bits and pieces. If the designs are open-source, no problem. People could move from place to place all over the world, and still use adaptable pieces.

Cardboard should have some flower seeds in it, to foster using it for mulching.

Interesting - I would reject the seed idea though. What is a nice flower or food plant in one place, could be a pest in another. (We're sensitive to these things in Australia.)
